Prowing in Purple, a New BRZ is coming!

Subaru will build a special, limited edition BRZ for 2025 called Series.Purple. It will only come with a manual transmission and wear a coat of special paint.

Subaru just teased a new, special edition BRZ that’s on the way for 2025. It bears the name Series.Purple Special Edition. Subaru will cap production at 500 units; making it a limited edition, special edition. You largely get special styling here, but that’s not a bad thing, as the second-generation BRZ already drives really well.

Special edition performance

But it’s not all styling. The Series.Purple only comes with a six-speed manual transmission. Moreover, you change gear via a short-throw shifter courtesy of STi. Under the hood, Subaru installs a flexible V-bar—essentially a shock tower brace—to stiffen up the front-end and improve response.

The Series.Purple comes from the Limited level BRZ, which means you get 18-inch wheels with summer rubber, specifically Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Subaru will coat this special edition wheel in a satin silver.

how it looks

But the styling makes up the biggest difference of the Series.Purple. To start, Subaru coats it in a Galaxy Purple Pearl paint. With those satin silver wheels, the black badging on the rear decklid will look relatively low key.

Inside, you get black upholstery wrapping the seats, door panels and the rest. At the edges, you see grey stitching. It appears on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift boot, seats, etc. Subaru calls the material on the seats ultra suede, by the way.

powertrain carries on

Fundamentally, this remains a second-generation Subaru BRZ. Replete with the 2.4-liter flat-four under the hood belting out 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft of torque. Considering it weighs less than 2900 lbs. that’s healthy power to hustle around.

And, critically, the BRZ chassis feels responsive and intuitive. It feels like a sports car should. Light, agile, and toss-able. Around your favorite backroads, the BRZ makes an excellent play thing.

Fling it into a corner and the light front-end darts right toward the apex, with the rear-end happily following suit. Thanks to the Torsen limited-slip rear differential and neutral chassis balance, feel free to use your right foot as much as your hands to steer the BRZ out of the corner. It never dissappoints.

conclusion

We’ll learn and see a bit more about the Series.Purple soon as Subaru will officially unveil it a Subiefest in Texas. Based on what we learned so far, the asking price of $35,445 seems reasonable for a fun sports car with a bit more flair.
