Spend Less on a New Rogue or Pathfinder!

Just as the United States adds tariffs to the Automotive (and just about every other) sector, Nissan lowers prices on two of its most popular crossover SUVs.

Nissan just dropped the prices of the 2025 Rogue and Pathfinder crossover SUVs. Across both line-ups, every trim and drivetrain received some kind of discount. The reduced cost puts the base price of both the Rogue and Pathfinder beneath Honda and Toyota competitors. Let’s break it down.

NISSAN ROGUE

Starting with the Rogue, you get a $640 reduction for the base Rogue S with front-wheel-drive (FWD). And a whopping $1930 drop for the mild off-road friendly Rogue Rock Creek. When I tested it last fall, Nissan listed the base price at $36,810. That price includes the $1390 destination charge. Now Nissan puts the MSRP at $34,880.

The Rogue competes with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. The base CR-V is the LX with FWD, which costs $31,495 (including $1395 destination charge), which comes to $1515 more than the equivalent Nissan. Toyota’s RAV4 competitor gets closer, but the base, FWD LE, still starts $665 higher, $30,645.

It gets a bit more complicated when go start looking at top trims, however. Both Honda and Toyota top their lineups with hybrid powertrains. And both make more power than the Rogue’s turbocharged inline-three-cylinder powerplant, which produces 201 horsepower and 225 lb.-ft of torque. Finally, both also comfortably beat the Rogue’s fuel economy numbers, which vary between 27-30 MPG in the city, 32-27 MPG on the highway, 29-33 MPG combined.

But the Rogue definitely costs less. A Nissan Rogue Platinum with all-wheel-drive (AWD) starts at $41,380, $1115 less than a Honda CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid with AWD and $620 less than the RAV4 Hybrid Limited AWD.

NISSAN PATHFINDER

Nissan kept Pathfinder prices cuts simple. S, SV, and Rock Creeks trims get a $670 lower price; SL and Platinum trims get a $1170 lower price. And the same reductions happened for both FWD and AWD versions. Unlike the Rogue, however, the Pathfinder already cost less than the Honda and Toyota equivalents. The price difference just expands it in this case.

But what are the Honda and Toyota competitors? The Pathfinder measure a few inches larger than the Honda Passport and Toyota Highlander and a few inches shorter than the Honda Pilot and Toyota Grand Highlander. Given its three-row passenger layout and 3.5-liter V-6, the Pathfinder more naturally competes against the larger of the two but, as a result, suffers a small disadvantage in space.

That said, the base Pathfinder S with FWD starts at $37,790 (including its $1390 destination charge). That compares to the $41,650 price of the base Honda Pilot Sport with FWD and $42,310 price of the Toyota Grand Highlander LE, also FWD.

Things get a bit complicated when comparing the high-end trims, as the Honda added a new Black Edition Pilot to the line-up, above it usual top Elite trim. And Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Max Limited gets a powerful, 362 horsepower hybrid engine set-up. All of the above come standard with AWD and cost at least $2500 more than the Pathfinder Platinum AWD.

SUMMARY

Nissan looks to lure new buyers in with lower prices. And using two of the brands strongest models could merit an increase in sales. At the same time, how the incoming tariffs affect things may throw a wrench in the operation.

Regardless, I’ve reviewed multiple versions of each crossover and found a lot to like in both of them. And now you can like them for less.
