The new, third-generation, 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is a large-for-a-compact crossover, comes in four-different trims, and offers both front- and all-wheel-drive.
Late last fall, we saw the reveal of the third generation, 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan. And now we get to learn how much it will cost.
The article I wrote last fall goes in to detail about all the changed between the outgoing second and incoming third generation crossover (here). But, Briefly, the 2025 Tiguan rides on a new platform, and gets big updates to the interior, including a standard 12.9-inch center display and optional 15-inch center display.
The powertrain remains a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but Volkswagen managed to retune it to develop an additional 17 horsepower, now 201 in total. Exterior styling changed quite a bit as well. And, to me at least, is vastly improved.

What’s the Price?
For 2025, Volkswagen will sell four different trims of the Tiguan, the: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and the SEL R-Line. The base trim is the Tiguan S and when it’s equipped with front-wheel-drive, it costs $30,920 when you include the $1425 destination charge. Choosing AWD adds $1500 and costs $32,420.
The S trim rolls on 17-inch aluminum wheels and uses LED for both the head- and tail-lights. Inside, you do get a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch center display.
Moving up to the SE trim adds a few grand, starting at $34,420 for front wheel drive and $35,400 for all wheel drive. You roll on 19-inch wheels in the SE and inside upgrades to power front seats and a few other small upgrades over the S.
Next up is the SE R-Line Black. Front wheel drive versions cost $36,880 and all-wheel-drive runs $38,380. That moves you up to 20-inch wheels outside. Volkswagen also adds a bit of R-Line garnish across the exterior to sport up the look of the Tiguan.
The Top-of-the-Line trim is the SEL R-Line. It comes standard with all-wheel-drive and costs $41,180 dollars. The SEL R-Line is how you get the larger 15-inch center display, as well as a nicer sound system, a three-zone climate control system, and even massaging front seats.

Time for a Review?
With pricing announced, I expect the Tiguan to reach dealerships soon. And with luck, one will head down my driveway to review soon as well. A lot of improvements come with the latest Tiguan, but it all means nothing unless it’s a joy to drive. I’ll report with a review as soon as I’m able.
