Honda Drops New Details on the Upcoming Passport

The 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport will include 31-inch all-terrain tires, front recovery points, and plenty of technology to increase off-road capability.

Late this fall, Honda plans to officially reveal the next-generation, 2026 Honda Passport; the brand’s larger two-row SUV. You should see them start to arrive at dealerships early the following year. We’ve already seen a few bits of information about the upcoming, fourth-generation SUV. Mostly about the off-road friendly Trailsport trim.

And, in that same vein, we just learned a bit more.

WHAT’S COMING FOR 2026

The 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport will roll on 31-inch all-terrain tires, mounted on 18-inch wheels. Upfront, you’ll see heavy-duty, orange recovery points jutting out of the front fascia, which also receives a substantially shorter front overhang to increase approach angle limits.

The Trailsport will keep a close eye on the ground with four camera views: front, rear, side, and “360-degree.” Moreover, a system called TrailWatch will include a new tire path and vehicle body guidelines, which it will display on the center console screen. The point of the system is to mitigate blindly approaching any obstacles and avoiding all unwanted hazards.

ACCESSORIZE

Honda also plans to up the accessories content offered on the Passport. For example, offering rock sliders, which will protect the body from a rocky surface and augment the already installed skid plates. There’s also an aluminum scuff plate to safeguard the front fascia.

Finally, Honda added an entire line of cargo accessories to help carry off-road friendly gear. One such item is called MOLLE, or modular light-weight load-carrying equipment. This system integrates into the cargo area and keeps everything you need in an easy to find and grab spot.

WHY NOW?

We already know that the new Passport will receive an updated powertrain, which Honda plucked from the latest generation Honda Pilot. And I feel the current, third generation Honda Passport, even the updated 2024 model year Black Edition, is starting to feel just a little long in the tooth.

I, for one, am excited to see how this new Passport feels on the road. In addition to how the Trailsport trim will feel off it.
